SCC examination for operational employees according to document 016

SGU examination for operational employees of contractors (Document 016)

SGU examinations taken in accordance with document 016 are generally not accepted outside Germany (especially in the Netherlands and Belgium).

As a precautionary measure, it is pointed out that some clients require an examination to be carried out by accredited personnel certification bodies (Document 018).

Participants

All operational employees (at least 90%) within the scope of the SCC or SCP certificate who have been with the company for more than three months must have completed HSE training, including an examination. Operational employees are involved in the provision of services (e.g., manual workers, skilled workers, fitters). This also includes – if they perform operational activities – marginal and part-time employees and trainees who have reached the age of 18, as well as one-person subcontractors who are deployed in order processing.

The following are exempt from this requirement within the scope of SCC or SCP certification:

  • Operational employees who have successfully completed a recognized SGU examination with a personnel examination organization in accordance with document 018 or who can demonstrate qualification as an occupational safety specialist.
  • Supervisors at the operational level who have successfully completed a recognized SGU examination in accordance with document 017, or who can demonstrate their qualification as an occupational safety specialist.
  • Operational employees and managers at the operational level who hold an Austrian SGU certificate according to document A18 or a VCA diploma - provided it is listed in the Central Diploma Register, see https://www.vca.ssvv.nl

It is the responsibility of the company to decide whether employees who have not yet reached the age of 18 will be trained and tested in accordance with document 016.

Examination and examination evaluation

The exam consists of 40 multiple-choice questions, which candidates must answer without any aids. Operational staff are considered to have passed the exam if at least 70% of the questions are answered correctly, i.e., if at least 28 correct answers are given. If a candidate fails the HSE exam, it can be retaken as many times as required.

Successful candidates will be issued an SGU certificate according to document 016 without certification.
The validity of an HSE certificate obtained during the initial certification begins on the date of the positive certification decision and is valid for five years after the date of the successful examination minus one day.

It is recommended to use the safety pass to record the successfully completed examination.
